BAF aircraft to bring medical aids from China

An aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force with 16 aircrew aboard will depart Shah Amanat International Airport, Chattogram for China on Friday to bring essential healthcare aids from China.

Air Commodore Md Zahidur Rahman of Bangladesh Air Force will lead the team, said an ISPR release.

Meanwhile, BAF C-130J aircraft arrived at Chattogram on Thursday from BAF Base Bangabandhu, Dhaka to depart for China.

Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat provided necessary guidance to carry out the mission.

Armed forces are carrying out various activities at the directives of the prime minister to contain the spread of deadly novel coronavirus.

Bangladesh Armed Forces has adopted a plan to collect medical aids, including N-95 mask, surgical mask, elect thermometer, medical safety glasses, protective gloves, goggles and personal protective equipment (PPE), in order to strengthen the coronavirus prevention system of Bangladesh in response to the Chinese government’s proposal.

A BAF transport aircraft left for China to serve the purpose of collecting medical aids from China.

Bangladesh Air Force is providing emergency aviation transportation and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) support in aid to civil power under the Armed Forces Division to prevent coronavirus spread.    

For the outstanding efforts of the Chinese government in combating the Covid-19 and for their sincere support to various countries of the world, including Bangladesh, to prevent the spread of the virus, Bangladesh Armed Forces sent some souvenirs which bear the tradition of Bangladesh like handicraft items to the Armed Forces of China and other related support agencies as a sign of friendship.

Healthcare aids (PPEs, masks and sanitisers etc) collected from China will be brought by the same aircraft to provide various entities engaged in combating coronavirus in Bangladesh under the initiative of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. BAF C-130J aircraft is expected to return home on April 18 with the medical equipment, reports BSS.
