PM asks officials to work sincerely to implement ADP

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday asked officials of various departments at grassroots to work with utmost sincerity for proper implementation of the government's Annual Development Programmes (ADP).

"Our goal is the development of the country and...proper implementation of the ADP is very important to achieve the goal," she said while speaking at meeting with district level government officials at Thakurgaon Circuit House in Thakurgaon.

The premier also asked them to play their role in building awareness against militancy, terrorism and drug involving cross section of people particularly guardians, teachers and religious leaders alongside creating sports opportunities for the children and juveniles for their physical and mental health.

She said the government was establishing at least a mini stadium in every upazila to facilitate the youths to pursue sports and cultural activities.

Officials of different departments apprised the Prime Minister of the progress of the implementation of various projects taken for the district while deputy commissioner Md Akhteruzzaman gave a presentation on the history, heritage, resources and prospects of the district.

Sheikh Hasina said her government decided to establish an economic zone in the district expecting it to create immense job opportunities for youths alongside prospering the economy of the region.

She asked the officials to find out the homeless people in the district for their rehabilitation under a government scheme by providing them accommodation.

"No people in the country would live in slum...everybody would get a house," she said.

The Prime Minister, who arrived here on a day-long visit, will address a public meeting at Thakurgaon Govt. High School Ground this afternoon.

She will also inaugurate about 30 implemented projects and lay foundation of 33 projects.
