Immediate removal of all waterlogging is not possible: Minister of Water Resources
Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie stated on Sunday, April 19, 2026, that while the government is fully committed to mitigating waterlogging, it is not possible to eliminate it instantly across the country.
Following a strategic meeting with Prime Minister Tariq Rahman, the Minister announced a 180-day action plan aimed at flood management and riverbank protection.
He also shared that the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Jessore on April 27 and Sylhet on May 2 to inaugurate nationwide canal-excavation projects.
Despite the challenges, Minister Annie emphasized that proactive measures and expert consultations are underway to handle potential floods and erosion during the upcoming monsoon season.
