No decision yet on postponing HSC exam: Dipu Moni


Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni has said no decision has yet been taken about postponing the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination.

She made the remarks while addressing an emergency press conference at the Secretariat on Monday.

The minister said all the educational institutions across the country will remain closed until March 31 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

She said this vacation will be adjusted with summer and Ramadan vacations if necessary.

Dr. Dipu Moni said all examinations under the National University have been suspended until March 31.

Besides, Dhaka University will remain closed from March 18 to March 28, she said.

Meanwhile, three more people have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection in Bangladesh, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) said on Monday.

“All of them are members of the same family and two of them are children,” IEDCR Director Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora said at a regular media briefing.

With the fresh cases, the number of coronavirus-infected patients in the country has risen to eight.

The death toll from coronavirus has reached 6,518 globally as of Monday.

It has infected 169,610 people around the world, according to world meter.

Of them, 85,316 are currently infected while 77,776 patients recovered.

The coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting 157 countries and territories around the world and 1 international conveyance (the Diamond Princess cruise ship harbored in Yokohama, Japan).

The World Health Organization on Wednesday declared that the global coronavirus crisis is now a pandemic but added that it’s not too late for countries to act.
