Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the sale of party nomination forms for the 12th parliamentary elections on Saturday morning.

Following the inauguration at the party's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka, Awami League advisory council member Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed collected the nomination form on her behalf for the Gopalganj-3 constituency.

Awami League is selling each nomination form at Tk50,000, sources said.

On Wednesday, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal unveiled the detailed schedule for the 12th parliamentary polls, slated to take place on January 7.

As per the announcement, Awami League has started selling nomination papers to its candidates.Those seeking party nominations will be able to collect and submit nomination papers from November 18-21 between 10am and 4pm daily.

Candidates aspiring for nominations are required to gather and submit their application forms at the designated divisional booths at the party's central office, according to a press release issued by Awami League.

Nomination papers for the candidates from Dhaka, Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Chattogram divisions will be distributed on the second floor, while candidates from Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barishal divisions will be able to collect nomination forms from the booths on the third floor of the central office.

All candidates will have to submit their nomination papers at the booths on the ground floor of the central office.

Nomination seekers have the option to personally collect and submit their application forms or delegate this task to their representatives.

Aspirants will have to bring a photocopy of their national ID card with them to collect nomination papers.

As per the polls schedule, nomination papers must be submitted by November 30 at the respective district election commission offices.

The scrutiny of nominations is set for December 1-4, and the last day for withdrawing candidature is December 17.
