Holy Shab-e-Barat May 1

The holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of fortune, will be observed throughout the country on the night of May 1 (Tuesday) as the Shaban moon was sighted in the country tonight.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation conference room of Baitul Mukarram in the capital on Tuesday evening with Director General of Islamic Foundation and member secretary of the moon sighting committee Shamim Mohammad Afzal in the chair.

As the moon of the holy Shaban month was sighted on the sky on Tuesday night so the counting of the holy Shaban month will begin on Wednesday (April 18), said a press release of Islamic Foundation.

Joint secretary of religious affairs ministry Dr Moazzem Hossain, joint secretary of the cabinet division Md Saidur Rahman, joint secretary(press)of information ministry Md Mizan-ul-Haque, Additional Principal Information Officer Fazley Rabbi, Director of Bangladesh Television (BTV) M Shakawat Hossen, Principal of Madrasha-e-Alia Professor Siraj Uddin Ahmad, Deputy Director of Bangladesh Metrology Department M Abdur Rahman, Senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Maulana Muhammad Mizanur Rahman, Khatib of Chakbazar Shahi Mosque Mawlana Sheikh Naim Rezwan and Khatib of Lalbagh Shahi Jame Mosque Maulana Abu Raihan, among others, attended the meeting.
