Politicians gather at Senakunj on Armed Forces DayKhaleda Zia's courtesy call with the Chief Advisor

BNP ChairpersonqAs per the medical board's advice, she left her residence in Gulshan, Firoza, at 4 pm on Friday (November 21) and reached Senakunj after 4:30 pm. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia had attended the Senakunj event last year after a 15-year hiatus.

Upon reaching Senakunj, the BNP Chairperson was welcomed by Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman and Air Force Chief. Last year, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia had also attended the Senakunj event.

After reaching Senakunj, Khaleda Zia got out of the car and went to the venue in a wheelchair. She was wearing a lavender-colored chiffon saree. She was seen raising her hands to respond to the greetings.

Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus paid a courtesy call on Khaleda Zia. Dr. Yunus inquired about the current physical condition of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and wished her good health. 

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia thanked the chief advisor. She inquired about the physical condition of the chief advisor's wife Afrozi Yunus and wished her well. After that, the two leaders had a private meeting for a while.

It was not immediately known what exactly was discussed in the brief meeting, but the private meeting between the two top figures is being considered particularly significant given the current political situation.

After the meeting, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia enjoyed the Armed Forces Day reception ceremony, sitting next to Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus.

Later, National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam paid a courtesy call on BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

The event was ablaze with lively greetings from former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, NCP chief Nahid Islam and other political leaders.

In fact, Khaleda Zia was the centerpiece of this event, which turned into a gathering of politicians. Today's Armed Forces Day would have been more complete if Tarique Rahman had been present.

The BNP Chairperson was accompanied by Syeda Sharmila Rahman Sinthi, wife of her younger son, the late Arafat Rahman Koko, Nasrin Syed Iskandar, wife of Khaleda Zia's late brother Syed Iskandar, and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Besides, Khaleda Zia's Medical Board Chief Professor Shahabuddin Talukder and BNP Standing Committee member AZM Zahid Hossain were present at the event.

In addition, party standing committee members Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moin Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and Hafiz Uddin Ahmed attended the event at Senakunj.

A reception has been organized by the Chief Advisor at the Senakunj of Dhaka Cantonment at 4 pm. The program is being broadcast live by Bangladesh Television.
