Joshi applauds Bangladesh’s spin attack

Bangladesh spin coach Sunil Joshi has applauded Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh spin attack for their outstanding performance in the World Cup, saying they are doing their job properly.

Bangladesh have played four matches in the World Cup so far, and won one of them. They ended on the losing side in two games, and the other one against Sri Lanka was washed out due to rain. The Tigers are now keen to find their winning streak back on June 17 when they will face West Indies. Before heading to that game, Joshi applauded Bangladesh’s spin department.

“As the spin coach of Bangladesh, I’m really happy for their inspiring performance. Shakib (Al Hasan) is our best spinner. He has been doing well. At the same time, Miraz (Mehidy Hasan) and Mosaddek (Hossain) are also doing fine in the middle,” Joshi told the media on Thursday.

Bangladesh spin department might face a stiff challenge against the Caribbean batting line when they will take on them on June 17. However, Joshi believes Bangladeshi spinners are upbeat to take the challenge.

“Not just for us, I think this is (facing West Indies) a big challenge for all of the other bowlers also. Our spinners did really well whenever they have faced a rigid challenge,” Joshi further added.

Both of Shakib and Miraz bowled 30 overs in the World Cup so far and conceded 168 and 158 runs respective at the averages of 5.60 and 5.26. Miraz took five wickets while Shakib bagged three. Mosaddek, on the other hand, bowled 16 overs and took two wickets conceding 95 runs.

Before heading to the next game, Bangladesh can find a truckload of confidence from their tri-series triumph in Ireland where they beat West Indies three times to clinch the title.
