BD reports 45 more deaths, 2,436 new cases


Bangladesh confirmed 45 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours till 8am on Thursday.

The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 4,127, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the last 24 hours, 2,436 people tested positive for Covid-19 and the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 3,04,583.

Of the dead patients, 34 were men and eleven were women. Moreover, 22 of them hailed from Dhaka, ten from Chattogram, six from Rangpur, five from khulna, and one each from Rajshahi and Sylhet division.

Forty-two of them have died in different hospitals and three at their respective residences.

Health authorities reported that another 3,275 people have recovered from the disease in a day, taking the total number of recoveries to 193,458.

In the last 24 hours, 91 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country tested 15,124 samples.

Of the total sample tests in the past 24 hours, 18.57 percent tested positive, while 16.11 percent cases were detected from the total tests conducted so far, the release added.

Among the total infections, 63.52 percent patients have recovered, while 1.35 percent died so far since the first COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the country on March 8.

The virus has killed 830,152 people globally and infected 24,357,109 so far.
