COVID-19 pandemicBD reports 47 more deaths, 2211 new cases


Bangladesh confirmed 47 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours until 8am Friday.

With this, the death toll now stands at 4,174 and the death rate stands at 1.36 percent, according to a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) issued on Friday.

In the last 24 hours, 2,211 people tested positive for Covid-19 and the infection rate stood at 16.09 percent.

With the new cases, the country now has 3,06,794 Covid-19 positive cases at an infection rate of 20.26 percent, according to the DGHS.

"Of the dead patients, 32 are men and 15 women. Moreover, 29 of them are hailed from Dhaka, three are from Chattogram, two are from Rajshahi, seven are from Rajshahi, one each are from Barishal and Sylhet and four from Rangpur," the press release said.

44 of them have died in different hospitals and three at their respective homes.

According to the release, "Some 13,741 were tested in 92 labs across the country. So far 1,514,126 samples have been tested."

Besides, some 3,378 patients have recovered during the time, increasing the tally to 196,836.

As of Friday, 836,065 people died from Covid-19 globally and 24,652,423 cases of infection have been recorded so far.
