COVID-19 pandemicBD reports 33 more deaths, 2,174 new cases


Bangladesh confirmed 33 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours ending at 8 am Monday. 

The total fatalities from the virus reached 4,281 and the death rate stood at 1.37 percent.

Among the deceased, 29 were men and four women. And 21 of them were from Dhaka division, five from Rajshahi, four from Chattogram, one each from Khulna, Rangpur and Barishal.

A press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday revealed the latest numbers.

In the last 24 hours, 2,174 people tested Covid-19 positive, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 312,996.

And the daily infection rate was 17.46 percent, although the overall rate in the country stood at 20.19 percent.

The total number of recovered patients stood at 208,887 including 2,980 new ones in the last 24 hours. And the recovery rate rose to 65.46 percent.

And 12,454 samples were tested in 92 labs across the country. So far 15,50,203 samples have been tested.

Bangladesh confirmed the first Covid-19 cases on March 8, and first death on March 18.

The coronavirus death toll reached 850,878 globally and confirmed cases stood at 25,406,588 till date.
