COVID-19 pandemicBD reports 32 more deaths, 1,592 new cases


Bangladesh confirmed 32 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours 8am on Sunday.

The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 4,479, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the last 24 hours, 1,592 people tested positive for Covid-19 and the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 3,25,157.

"Of the dead patients, 25 were men and seven were women. Moreover, 17 of them hailed from Dhaka, four from Chattogram and Khulna, one each from from Barishal and Rangpur, three each from Sylhet and two from Rajshahi.

29 among the dead persons have died in different hospitals while three died at home, says the press release.

Around 68.05 percent of novel coronavirus patients – both symptomatic and asymptomatic – have recovered in Bangladesh so far, while 1.38 percent have died.

The latest day's infection rate is 14.02 percent of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 19.96 percent.

A total of 3,423 patients were declared free of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours and the total number of recoveries reached 2,21,275. 

Some 11,224 samples were collected in the last 24 hours and 11,354 were tested in 92 labs across the country. So far 16,29,312 samples have been tested.

The virus has killed 8,17,166 people globally and infected 2,64,68,031 so far.
