BB issues cyber attack warning for banks, NBFIs

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has issued a cyber attack warning to banks, digital payment service providers and other financial institutions, based on intelligence from various sources.

The Information and Communications Technology unit of the BB issued the alert on Wednesday, saying that a large-scale cyber attack can take place in the country’s banking and other financial institutions at any time.

The BB also asked the authorities concerned to enhance malware surveillance and apply different security tools to secure the financial information of their financial institutions.

The country’s Critical Information Infrastructure (CII), banks, financial institutions, health department and government and nongovernment institutions are under the threat of a possible cyber attack, it said.
