Govt will hand over power to elected officials soon after election: Press Secy

The interim government will hand over power to the elected lawmakers as soon as possible after the 12 February general elections, said the Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam at a press briefing on Thursday.

After the lawmakers take their oath of office, authorities will request the leader of the majority group to take oath as the new Prime Minister, Shafiqul added while speaking at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.

“I think the entire power handover process would be completed by 17 or 18 February,” he said.

Towards the end of the current administration’s tenure, advisers would publicly disclose their wealth statement, Shafiqul told reporters.
