Shaheen Abdul Bari:

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock and Member of the Parliament for Tangail-5 (Sadar) constituency, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, said that neighboring countries want to destroy the youth and future generations by bringing drugs into Bangladesh through various means. If the youth are destroyed, it will be easier to control them.

He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a football tournament held in Dainya Chowdhury Paschimpara village of Tangail Sadar Upazila on Friday (June 19) afternoon.

The State Minister said that everyone is aware of where the drugs come from. These drugs are entering from the neighboring countries. They want our country to become weak and crippled. Therefore, everyone must remain aware and united from their respective positions.

He said that drugs will not be allowed to enter Tangail Sadar under any circumstances. We will say no to drugs and welcome sports. Through sports, the next generation must be developed as a drug-free youth community.

Sultan Salahuddin Tuku further said that infrastructure development alone is not enough. There is no benefit in building beautiful houses, roads, schools, and colleges if the people of that society are destroyed. Therefore, one must first develop oneself mentally.

He said, “We want a drug-free, juvenile gang-free, extortion-free, and safe Tangail. What I said before the election, I am still working toward that goal and will continue on the same path in the future.”

Highlighting Tangail’s sporting heritage, he said that Tangail was once known as a city of sports. Many players from here have played at the national level. I hope that players from among the participants of today’s tournament will also play for the national team in the future.

Sultan Salahuddin Tuku called for a collective effort to build a beautiful Bangladesh for future generations. He also mentioned that he wants to see Tangail at the top of the development list over the next five years.

The football tournament was presided over by former Head Teacher of Baghil K.K. High School, Lokman Hossain. Among those present were former Member Secretary of Tangail District BNP Mahmudul Haque Sanu, former Organizing Secretary of Tangail District BNP Shafiqur Rahman Khan Shafiq, Senior Joint Secretary of Sadar Thana BNP Azim Uddin Biplob, former Chairman of Dainya Union Parishad Md. Lablu Mia Labu, Central Jubo Dal member Abdullahhel Kafi Shahed, along with leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations.
