Loan moratorium not be extended

The loan repayment period for borrowers will not be extended further as Bangladesh Bank has withdrawn the special facility after two years.

The borrowers enjoyed moratorium facility on loan repayment installments beyond December.

Unlike past, borrowers will not be able to repay 25% of the installment after this December.

If installments are not paid properly, the borrowers will be treated as loan defaulters.

Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir came up with this decision at a bankers’ meeting held at the Central Bank in the capital on Tuesday.

Central Bank spokesperson Md Serajul Islam confirmed the matter after the meeting.
