Gold prices fall by Tk 1,166 per bhori


Jewellers in the country on Wednesday decreased gold prices by Tk 1,166 to Tk 78,382 a bhori (11.664 grams).

The new prices will be effective from Thursday, said a press release issued by Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS).

According to the new rate, 22-carat gold will cost Tk 78,382, which was Tk 79,548 per bhori.

Besides, the local market will sell 21-carat gold at Tk 74,883 from Tk 75,932 per bhori and 18-carat gold at Tk 64,152 from Tk 65,085 per bhori.

Meanwhile, the price for traditional method gold has been set at Tk 53,479, which was Tk 54,237 per bhori.

However, BAJUS has kept the price of silver unchanged.

Each bhori of 22-carat silver will be sold at Tk 1,516, while 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional method silver are still available at Tk 1,435, Tk 1,225 and Tk 933 respectively.

Earlier on May 26, the prices of gold fell by Tk 2,917 to Tk 79,548 a bhori in the local market.
