BGMEA urges NBR to resolve problems faced by RMG sector


Leaders of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) have urged the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to address customs, bond and tax-related issues to ease business procedures for the RMG industry.

A BGMEA delegation headed by President Faruque Hassan made the call during their meeting with NBR Member (Tax Policy) Sams Uddin Ahmed in Dhaka on July 6, read a press release.

BGMEA Vice President Shahidullah Azim, Director Asif Ashraf and Chair of BGMEA Standing Committee on Foreign Mission Cell Shams Mahmud were also present at the meeting.

Faruque Hassan said business procedures should be made easier to reduce time and cost, which will help the RMG sector to remain competitive and sustain growth momentum.

He requested the NBR to take necessary steps to resolve problems related to customs, bonds and taxes being faced by garment factories.

NBR Member Sams Uddin Ahmed took note of the issues raised by the BGMEA leaders and assured of cooperation in addressing them.
