Manpower export to Malaysia: Regular flights for workers may begin today

Operation of regular flights carrying Bangladeshi workers to Malaysia may begin from today, two weeks after the first batch of 53 workers reached Malaysia.

Recruiting agencies have confirmed that at least one flight will be operated to Malaysia every day till the end of this month and some 3 to 4 flights with Bangladeshi workers will be operated from the beginning of the next month.

“Daily flights will be operated from Monday. A small number of workers will be able to go to Malaysia through these flights but the number of flights will increase to 3-4 every day from the beginning of September,” said KM Mobarak Ullah Shimul, Proprietor of Adeb Air Travels and Tours.

He said initially all the recruiting agencies and relevant branches of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment were slow to adapt to the online system of the Malaysian government.

Now they are ready as they have overcome all the problems and therefore the speed of sending workers will also increase, he added.

Sources at Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) have confirmed that the government has relaxed the provision of selecting workers from BMET data bank. As a result, recruiting agencies now will be able to select workers of their choice.

Earlier, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad announced that only the workers who have registered with the BMET data bank will be able to go to Malaysia for work.

He said they will send a list of workers from the data bank against the demand of recruiting agencies. However, recruiting agencies were repeatedly requesting the government to open up the workers’ selection process.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment have issued recruitment approval to some 20 recruiting agencies for sending Bangladeshi workers to Malaysia till Sunday.

On July 24, the first day of offering recruitment approval, four recruiting agencies— New Age International (RL 703), Path Finder International (RL 1298), Greenland Overseas (RL 040) and Amial International (RL 1326) got the recruitment approval from the government.

Al Bokhari International (RL 301), Imperial Resource Ltd (RL 1274) and South Point Overseas Ltd (RL 622) got approval the next day.

Ahmed International (RL 1146), Binimoy International (RL 351) and Akash Bhromon (RL 384) received the clearance on July 28.

Arving Enterprise (RL 0215) was approved on August 1 while Brothers International (1571), Catharsis International (RL 549), BM Travels (RL 1421) and Imperial Resource Ltd (RL 1874) got recruitment approval two days later.

Later, on August 4, Sarkar International (RL 1715) received the recruitment approval. The same agency got three letters of approval on the day against three separate demand letters.

Besides, SOS International Services Ltd (RL 1530) and Five M International Ltd (RL 1327) were cleared on the same day.

Adeb Air Travels and Tours (RL 1024) and Al-Rabeta International (354) got recruitment approval on August 10.
