Russian shipbuilders to hire skilled manpower from Bangladesh


Several Russian companies are planning to hire skilled manpower from Bangladesh to strengthen the country’s shipbuilding industry amid the ongoing war with Ukraine.

The move comes as President Vladimir Putin hinted at strengthening the country’s shipbuilding industry to meet difficulties in sourcing foreign parts and equipment for civilian vessels amid the war with Ukraine.

Many shipbuilding industries have already contacted Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL) in this regard.

BOESL in a notice said that Russia will hire 30 scaffolding (builders) with 44,000 ruble salary, 20 hull fitters (metal vessels) with 50,000 rubles, 10 marine machine fitters with 50,000 rubles, 10 pipe fitters with 48,000 rubles, 10 welders with 50,000 rubles and eight interpreters with 38,850 rubles salary.

The aspirants except the interpreters should have working experience for at least six months in any international shipbuilding company in South Korea or Singapore, said the BOESL notice.

Besides, the interpreters should graduate in English and the candidates will be given extra advantage if he is skilled in the Russian language, said the notice.
