Dr Kamal Hossain quits Gana Forum, politics

Gana Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain has resigned from the post of the party and retired from politics on health grounds.

“Considering my age and physical condition, it is no longer possible to actively perform the duties of the president of the party. In this situation, I announce my resignation from all political activities and from the post of president of the Gana Forum,” Kamal Hossain said in a statement on Friday.

Shah Nuruzzaman, treasurer of the party, read out the statement in the presence of Kamal Hossain at a special council session at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka. 

At the event, the eminent jurist said he would continue his cooperation for the party leaders and activists.

Mofijul Islam Khan has been elected president and Mijanur Rahman general secretary of the Gana Forum in the special council session.

Dr Kamal Hossain has been elected the party’s lifelong president emeritus.
