October 28 rally: BNP men start gathering at Nayapaltan

A number of leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies have started gathering in front of the party's Nayapaltan central office ahead of their planned rally scheduled for Saturday.

They began gathering there shortly after the Jumma prayers on Friday to avoid possible harassment on their way to the party’s central office. 

While talking to this correspondent, many of them said they arrived in the capital from different parts of the country two days ago. 

They stayed in hotels and the homes of their relatives in Dhaka and then left for the party office shortly after attending the Jumma prayers, said a group of BNP supporters. 

Meanwhile, members of law enforcement agencies have set up checkpoints at all the entrances of the capital. They are searching vehicles and people coming from outside Dhaka. 

Eyewitnesses said the police were conducting extensive searches at the Dhaka-bound vehicles in Gabtoli and Abdullahpur areas.
