Mahdi Amin made spokesperson of BNP polls steering committee

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has designated Mahdi Amin as the spokesperson for its ‘Central Election Steering Committee’.

Amin, who currently serves as an adviser to the party's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, will be responsible for conducting regular media briefings regarding the party's electoral activities.

The announcement was made by the committee’s Chairman and BNP Standing Committee member, Nazrul Islam Khan, during a press conference held this evening.

“From now on, Mahdi Amin will hold regular briefings as the spokesperson of the polls steering committee,” he told reporters.

The briefing followed the first formal meeting of the committee at the BNP’s election office located on Road 90 in Gulshan, where they discussed strategies for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.

The BNP has formed a 41-member election steering committee, with Nazrul Islam Khan as chairman and Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi as member secretary.

The committee was declared in a press release sent to the media on Thursday (1 January) night. Md Ismail Zabiullah has been made the chief coordinator of the polls steering committee.

Nazrul added that the BNP has always advocated for free and fair elections, and both the party and the steering committee will work to ensure such an election.

“We hope for a peaceful election, and the BNP will play its role in ensuring a peaceful voting process,” he said.
