U.S.-Iran talks may start in the afternoon in Islamabad

The highly anticipated peace talks between the United States and Iran, mediated by Pakistan, are expected to commence in Islamabad this afternoon, Saturday, April 11, 2026.

While initial reports suggested an 8:00 AM start, Iranian news agency Tasnim confirmed that the meeting is likely to be delayed until the afternoon.

Before the direct negotiations begin at the Serena Hotel, both delegations will hold separate high-level meetings with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Despite the current two-week ceasefire, deep-seated mistrust persists, particularly regarding Iran’s 10-point proposal which includes demands for U.S. troop withdrawal, the lifting of sanctions, and recognition of Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz.
